About This Place

Nestled in the heart of New York City's Financial District at 1 Hanover Square, Harry's is a distinguished restaurant and bar that masterfully blends old-school Manhattan charm with a contemporary, inviting atmosphere. Renowned for its classic American steakhouse cuisine, Harry's delivers a dining experience that appeals to both business diners and those seeking an elevated night out.

The culinary spotlight here undoubtedly shines on Harry's signature Beef Wellington, offered every Wednesday and praised by diners for its impeccable balance of flavors and textures. Unlike many traditional renditions, Harry's version stands out with a tender, flavorful beef interior wrapped in a perfectly crisp puff pastry—without the inclusion of prosciutto or pork, making it a mindful choice for those with dietary restrictions. Patrons like Peyton Mcginnis rave about the tender, melt-in-your-mouth quality, describing it as a dish that "you could squish in half with your aga," emphasizing the care and precision behind its preparation.

Complementing this centerpiece, the menu is filled with other enticing options such as the expertly grilled Porterhouse for Two, the juicy and robust Harry’s Sirloin Burger, and crave-worthy starters like the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and delicately crafted Hand-Cut Steak Tartare. For those seeking lighter fare, the Tuesday specials like the hearty Lentil Soup with NY Smoked Bacon & Croutons and the vibrant Tri-Color Salad with blue cheese and dried cranberries offer a fresh, satisfying change of pace.

Every dish is thoughtfully paired with sides that elevate the meal—whether it’s the golden, buttery Hash Browns sautéed in clarified butter or the house-cut French Fries, cooked fresh to achieve that perfect crispness. The attention to detail continues through to the desserts, where the Classic Crème Brûlée offers a silken finish with its caramelized sugar crust and velvety cream beneath.

Atmosphere-wise, Harry’s exudes a rich and cinematic vibe, as highlighted by customer Namkwann (NK), who notes the moody glow of dark wood tables contrasted with soft golden lamps—an ambiance that truly sets the scene for both intimate date nights and sophisticated business dinners. Combined with attentive, personalized service—such as the memorable hospitality from server Omar—guests feel cherished and well-cared-for, elevating the entire dining experience.

Connoisseurs of fine spirits will also appreciate Harry’s extensive Scotch selection, described by patrons like Jay Villegas as one of the widest and most interesting in the city. This makes the bar a perfect place to unwind with a unique tipple after a long day or to complement a rich, savory meal.

In sum, Harry's is far more than just a steakhouse—it is a New York institution where culinary craftsmanship meets genuine hospitality, wrapped in an atmosphere that honors tradition while embracing modern sophistication. Whether you’re hosting an important client dinner or simply craving a sophisticated night out, Harry’s promises a memorable, flavor-packed experience that will keep you coming back again and again.

Im suggesting that you run here upon reading this review. Im talking old school feels, premier VIP treatment and food to die for. I have had Beef Wellington in many places and thought this might just be another wrapped steak......Man was I pleased and grateful for the flavor, tenderness and quality of the prepared provisions. Perfect to the extent that you could squish it in half with your against the roof of your mouth. Truffle Mac, Ribeye, Salmon, o EAST/WEST Oysters, Signature & creative libations were all top notch. Thank you for the experience and I will be back regularly.

They have the widest selection of Scotches I’ve seen in a while! Make sure to order something you don’t usually see in a bar restaurant. The food and service is fantastic. The ambiance is top notch. Just try it for yourself. This place is in the financial district.

Great restaurant to enjoy Beef Wellington when you are in the mood. Their Wellington does not use any prosciutto or any other type of pork meat. Safe for those who have dietary restrictions. With the above being said, rib eye and porterhouse will always be much more flavorful if you are looking for stronger taste from your steaks.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Harry’s in NYC, a restaurant highly recommended by a friend, and I can confidently say it lived up to every expectation. We hosted clients for a business dinner, and this establishment proved exceptional from start to finish. We were fortunate to have Omar as our server—he was much more than just a server; he felt like our personal concierge, anticipating our needs before we even expressed them. The food, especially the steak, was perfectly cooked, and the side dishes were delightful. Each bite was a reminder of why this place is so celebrated. The service was flawless. Harry’s offer of convenient check-in for briefcases, backpacks, and coats right from the outset was invaluable since we came straight from the office and debated whether to return to our hotel first. The drinks, coffee, and desserts complemented the meal beautifully. Although we didn’t indulge in wine, the restaurant boasts an impressive selection curated by an expert sommelier. Overall, Harry’s is an absolute must-visit. From the exquisite food to the impeccable service, it’s a perfect 5-star experience in every way. Thanks to James Walsh! I forgot to mention that there were no open spots that evening, but he got us in!!

Harry’s has that old-school New York charm wrapped in a modern, moody glow dark wood tables, soft golden table lamps, and ceiling lights that make the whole place feel cinematic. It’s the kind of spot that works perfectly for both a date night and a classy business dinner. I ordered the Beef Wellington, and honestly, it was beautifully balanced. The puff pastry was perfectly crisp without being dry, the beef stayed tender and juicy at a perfect medium-rare, and the subtle truffle aroma in the sauce tied everything together. Served on a silver platter, it looked as good as it tasted. If you’re a steakhouse lover, their prime ribeye or NY strip is also worth trying the char and crust are spot on, and you can really tell they know their meat. Finished off with the bread pudding topped with vanilla ice cream warm, creamy, not overly sweet, and the perfect cozy ending to the meal. In short: elegant, nostalgic, and delicious!! a place that truly captures the spirit of classic New York dining done right.

Largest wine cellar in the city, and it did not disappoint. Went in for a dinner, focusing on the wine more than the kitchen. Such a well priced selection with a lot of depth! The food was fairly standard, with some low points, including the tomahawk and trofie.
